Branded staff golf shirts and hoodies ready for corporate clothing order

What does it cost to brand company clothing in South Africa?

There isn't one number, because a branded order is really four separate decisions stacked on top of each other, and each one moves the price on its own: the garment itself, the decoration method, how complex the logo is and where it goes, and how many pieces you're ordering. Two companies ordering "50 branded golf shirts" can land on very different quotes once those four things are answered differently.

Here's what each one actually does to the price, so you can work out roughly where you'll land before you ask for a quote, and so the quote you get back makes sense.

The garment is the starting cost

Before any branding happens, you're paying for the blank garment. A basic t-shirt, a heavier pique golf shirt and a 320gsm hoodie sit at different price points before a single stitch or print goes on, and that base cost carries through to the final number regardless of how the logo gets applied. Choosing the garment first, based on how staff will actually wear it, keeps this part honest instead of getting talked up or down later.

The method changes how the cost behaves, not just the total

Embroidery and DTF printing don't just cost different amounts, they cost differently. Embroidery carries a one-off setup called digitising, converting your logo into a stitch file, then runs at a flat cost per garment after that. DTF has no setup step at all, so the first shirt and the fiftieth cost close to the same each. That means embroidery gets relatively cheaper the more you order, while DTF stays flat regardless of quantity.

We cover this in more depth in embroidery vs DTF printing if you're still deciding which one suits your order.

Logo complexity and how many placements

A single small chest logo costs less to set up and apply than a design with several colours, fine detail, or one that needs stitching in more than one spot, a chest mark plus a sleeve hit plus a back print are three separate placements, each quoted on its own. This is usually the part people underestimate: the garment and the method might be settled, but a logo with four colours and two placements is a genuinely different job from a one-colour chest mark, and the quote should reflect that rather than average it out.

Quantity, and why the per-unit price drops

Setup costs, whether that's digitising a logo or simply the admin of running a job, get spread across however many units you order. Ten shirts carry that cost ten ways; two hundred carry it two hundred ways. This is the main reason a quote for 20 staff shirts looks proportionally more expensive per unit than a quote for 200, even though nothing about the job itself has changed.

Getting an accurate quote fast

The fastest way to a real number, not a range, is answering these upfront: which garment, roughly how many, where the logo goes, and whether you already have the logo in a usable file format. Send those four things and we can usually quote same day, rather than going back and forth on details that would have taken thirty seconds to include the first time.

Quick answers

Is there a minimum order? Samples are accepted from a single unit, and there is no fixed minimum for a full run, small orders are welcome, they just carry proportionally more of the setup cost per unit, as above.

Can I buy the garment and get it branded in one order? Yes, that's the default. The garments we decorate are our own, warehoused in Durban, so there's no separate supplier to coordinate.

Do I need to supply the garments myself? No, though you can if you'd rather. We brand our own stock or garments you send us, either way the same proof and quality checks apply before production.
